As the fight between undefeated pound-for-pound champion Floyd Mayweather and WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto is getting near as they prepare for their May 5 showdown at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Miguel Cotto is clear that he’s up for the challenge and ready to put an end to Mayweather’s undefeated streak. Even Floyd Mayweather acknowledge that Cotto is still a formidable, physical and very intelligent threat for him.
“He’s a solid and strong champion. He has been at the top for a long time. Cotto is a solid middleweight who knows the sport of boxing. I also know boxing. I always try to face the best. And he is one of the best in the sport.” Mayweather praised the WBA junior middleweight champion.
During the first episode of 24/7 Mayweather vs Cotto I heard Cotto saying this:
“I don’t need to talk about Floyd, you know. He’s the kind of guy who always needs and wants all the attention. I’m a quiet guy, but I’m always thinking and preparing myself for the event.”
“I love challenging situations in life and this fight for me is the best opportunity I can have to prove and show to the world what Miguel Cotto is made of.”
“After my first loss with Margarito, it took from myself a lot of things, you know, confidence and trusing in myself, and I beat him and it took the steam back to me. I feel great; I feel a lot [more] confidence than before.“
“I think all what the people see comes because of Pedro. He was the master mind behind the plan for this fight [Margarito]. He was responsible for making me look the better I look.“
“All I need is love and I have a lot of love inside my house. I can’t ask for more.”
“Having them [his kids] here, having Melissa here, makes me forget, you know?“
“Miguel Cotto is the last chapter of his undefeated career. He never faced a guy like Miguel Cotto, and he’s going to see and feel it on May 5th.”
